Program Manager, Meet Your Community

Role Overview
SOMOS.tech is looking for a dedicated and organized Program Manager to lead and oversee Meet Your Community sessions. This volunteer role focuses on curating inspiring storytelling events, coordinating guest speakers, and ensuring inclusive, live-translated sessions in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The ideal candidate enjoys community building, has strong logistical skills, and can work across teams to deliver memorable virtual events and networking opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Planning & Scheduling
• Define themes, topics, and schedule for Meet Your Community sessions.
• Identify and invite diverse tech professionals to share their journeys.
• Coordinate with the events / marketing teams to set dates, platforms, and promotion timelines.Event Logistics & Execution
• Oversee all logistical components: virtual platforms ( Restream )
• Manage event registration, attendee communication, and feedback collection.
• Ensure accessibility of sessions (language access, technical requirements).Cross-Team Collaboration & Communication
• Work with the Marketing / Communications team to promote events via website, social media, newsletter.
• Coordinate with Volunteer / Community Leads for speaker suggestions, community outreach.
• Maintain alignment with SOMOS.tech’s values (inclusion, access, mission) and other programs.Monitoring, Feedback & Improvement
• Collect and analyze attendance, participant satisfaction, engagement metrics.
• Use feedback / data to iterate and improve future sessions.
• Maintain records of speakers, themes, reach, etc. to inform strategy.Volunteer Management
• Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers who help with moderating, tech support, translation, etc.
• Provide necessary training / orientation for volunteers.Innovation & Quality
• Propose new formats or enhancements (e.g. panels, fireside chats, workshops).
• Evaluate use of tools (e.g. restream, streaming tools) that improve reach or engagement.
Qualifications
Proven experience organizing or managing virtual events, webinars, or community storytelling sessions.
Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
Comfort working across teams (events, marketing, technology) in a volunteer or distributed environment. This is a requirement.
Strong attention to detail, ability to manage logistics, timelines, and speakers.
Bonus if experience with Restream or similar streaming / multistream tools.
Passion for Latinx / Hispanic / inclusive tech communities; sensitivity toward multilingual and multicultural engagement.

Note: All volunteer roles are required to attend a bi-weekly 30 min scrum meeting online. Each volunteer role is committed to 1.5-4 hours a month.
