Terms of use

Organization: SOMOS.tech, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (“SOMOS.tech,” “we,” “us,” or “our”)

1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SOMOS.tech website and all related content, programs, events, and services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.


2. Mission
SOMOS.tech exists to create a community that supports and empowers Hispanic and Latinx tech professionals and allies by offering free networking opportunities, mentorship, and resources. Our goal is to inspire and assist those seeking a career in technology and foster a strong, inclusive community.


3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to access or participate in the Services. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older.


4. Community Participation
You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information when registering.

  • Maintain security of your account credentials.

  • Use the Services for lawful purposes only.

5. Code of Conduct
All community members must:

  • Treat others with respect and professionalism.

  • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, bullying, or disruptive behavior.

  • Respect confidentiality and privacy.

  • Act with honesty, transparency, and accountability.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.


6. Intellectual Property
All content, logos, and materials on SOMOS.tech are owned by SOMOS.tech or its licensors. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.


7. Third-Party Services
Our Services integrate with platforms including but not limited to Eventbrite, LinkedIn, Discord, Slack, Wix, and Microsoft services.

  • If you register for an event via Eventbrite, we may receive your registration information (including your email). By registering, you authorize such sharing and our use of that information per our Privacy Policy.

  • We are not responsible for third-party sites’ content or policies.

8. Privacy
Your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using our Services, you consent to our data practices, including AI tools provided through Microsoft Azure OpenAI. Azure OpenAI does not share customer data with OpenAI or other customers for training.


9. Events, Filming, and Image Use
By attending or participating in SOMOS.tech events (in-person or online), you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Events may be photographed, filmed, or recorded.

  • Your likeness, voice, and participation may appear in photographs, videos, or other media.

  • We may use such media for lawful purposes, including marketing, community promotion, and event documentation, without further notice or compensation.

  • If you do not wish to appear, you must notify event staff, though complete exclusion cannot be guaranteed.

By registering with a LinkedIn URL, you grant SOMOS.tech permission to display your profile image and link in connection with community networking.


10. Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
Do not upload personal identification information such as resumes, Social Security numbers, or financial data. We are not responsible for PII that is mistakenly or voluntarily uploaded.


11. Programs and AI Tools
SOMOS.tech provides programs such as Starting in Tech, AI Roadmap, and other programs.

  • Information is provided for educational and networking purposes only.

  • AI tools provide automated feedback but are not guaranteed accurate or complete.

  • Resume Review and similar programs may allow optional sharing with recruiters if you opt in.

  • Misuse, abuse, or attempts to manipulate these tools may result in account termination.

12. Membership Disclaimer
“Member” refers to individuals registered on our site or engaged in programs. It does not confer formal membership rights in our nonprofit, including voting rights or governance privileges, which are reserved to our Board of Directors.


13. Disclaimers

  • Services and content are provided “as is” without warranties.

  • We are not responsible for third-party content, job listings, interviews, or advice.

  • Opinions expressed by contributors do not necessarily reflect those of SOMOS.tech.

14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SOMOS.tech shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of our Services or participation in events.


15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SOMOS.tech, its affiliates, and representatives from any claims or liabilities arising from your use of the Services or violation of these Terms.


16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Services after posting constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.


17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Washington State, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
