Program Manager, Career / Career Resources

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week


Role Overview

SOMOS.tech is seeking a skilled Program Manager to drive its Career / Career Resources programs. This volunteer role will oversee tools and sessions such as resume building, mock interviews, career roadmap development, AI-powered resources, and peer & mentor driven career support. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, works well across teams, and is committed to empowering community members in their job-search, growth, and career transitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development & Delivery
    • Oversee career roadmap tools and how they are used / improved. Somos Tech+2Somos Tech+2
    • Coordinate implementation of resume builder, mock interview tools, and career sessions.
    • Ensure resources are maintained in multiple languages, accessible formats.

  • Speaker / Mentor / Peer Engagement
    • Recruit subject matter experts, recruiters, peers to host career sessions, mock interviews, or panels.
    • Work with mentorship program leads to integrate career resources with mentee-mentor activity.

  • Cross-Team Coordination & Promotion
    • Collaborate with Tech / AI teams to leverage tools (e.g. AI-powered resume reviews, prompts, etc.).
    • Partner with Marketing to create awareness and attract participants.
    • Coordinate with Community / Chapters so that career resources reach local groups.

  • Participant Support & Feedback
    • Serve as point of contact for participants, manage queries, feedback.
    • Collect data on participation, career outcomes, satisfaction.
    • Iterate on resources/tools based on that feedback.

  • Volunteer & Resource Management
    • Recruit and onboard volunteers (e.g. peer interviewers, resume reviewers).
    • Train or provide guidelines to ensure consistent quality.

  • Innovation & Quality Control
    • Explore enhancements (e.g., new tools, improved AI integration, new session formats).
    • Ensure that resources are up-to-date, relevant, aligned with industry trends and community needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in career development, coaching, human resources, or similar contexts.

  • Strong project management and organizational abilities. Must be able to work across teams and manage multiple moving parts.

  • Excellent communication skills, culturally sensitive, mindful of multilingual audience.

  • Bonus experience with tools like AI-powered resume review platforms, mock interview software.

  • Bonus if experience with Restream or streaming / recording platforms in career-session context.

Note: All volunteer roles are required to attend a bi-weekly 30 min scrum meeting online. Each volunteer role is committed to 1.5-4 hours a month.
