Role Overview:
SOMOS.tech is looking for a detail-oriented and community-driven individual to serve as Chicago, IL – Community Project Manager. This volunteer role focuses on ensuring that local initiatives, events, and projects are well-organized, effectively executed, and aligned with SOMOS.tech’s mission. The Community PM will work closely with the Local Network Lead and Chapter Co-Lead to manage timelines, coordinate resources, and keep projects on track, playing a vital role in growing our impact in the Chicago area.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution: Create and manage project plans for local events, programs, and outreach efforts.
Operational Coordination: Track progress, monitor deadlines, and ensure deliverables are met.
Community Support: Assist with outreach and communication to keep members informed and engaged.
Collaboration: Partner with chapter leads and volunteers to ensure smooth teamwork and alignment with global SOMOS.tech objectives.
Resource Management: Help manage local budgets, logistics, and materials for events and initiatives.
Reporting: Document outcomes, feedback, and lessons learned to improve future projects.
Qualifications:
Experience in project management or operations (formal or informal).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Clear and effective communication skills.
Passion for building community and using technology as a positive force.
Residency in or ability to regularly engage with the Chicago area.

Note: All volunteer roles are required to attend a bi-weekly 30 min scrum meeting online. Each volunteer role is committed to 1.5-4 hours a month.
