Role Overview:
SOMOS.tech is seeking a dedicated and collaborative individual to serve as Chicago, IL – Chapter Co-Lead. This volunteer role is central to building and sustaining our local presence in Chicago. As Co-Lead, you will partner with the Local Network Lead to drive engagement, organize impactful events, and foster connections within the Hispanic and Latinx tech community. We are looking for someone who is community-minded, passionate about technology as a force for good, and eager to work alongside others to make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shared Leadership: Collaborate closely with the Local Network Lead to shape the vision and activities of the Chicago chapter.

• Community Engagement: Support outreach efforts that grow local participation and strengthen the SOMOS.tech presence in the city.

• Event Planning: Help design and deliver workshops, meetups, and community events aligned with SOMOS.tech’s mission.

• Volunteer Support: Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and motivating local volunteers to contribute effectively.

• Communication: Maintain clear, consistent communication with the Lead, volunteers, and community members.

• Operational Support: Contribute to budgeting, logistics, and reporting to ensure smooth chapter operations.

Qualifications:

• Proven leadership or co-leadership experience, ideally within a community or nonprofit setting.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively and share responsibilities as part of a leadership team.

• Passion for leveraging technology to uplift and empower communities.

• Residency in or ability to regularly engage with the Chicago area.
